ABOUT THE PROJECT:

I worked in collaboration with the clients over a five year period as they renovated this baronial country home in the Scottish Borders to its former glory.  Quite a task! The house had once been at the centre of a 3,500 acre estate which was split up in the 1920s, and has previously seen life as a school during the war and more recently a hotel.

My clients were keen to create gardens around the house that reflected its character and I worked up the masterplan for the gardens and estate to fulfil this ambition.  The job involved working closely with an architect to design an orangery and garage courtyards, and bringing in contractors to create a new lake, undertake extensive remodelling of the ground around the house including the creation of new lawns and undertaking extensive tree planting.
